Kendal sign on Natland Road. Harder to read is the Latin motto beneath the town coat of arms: 'Pannus mihi panis' which translates as 'Wool is my bread', harking back to Kendal's past as a centre of the wool industry http://www.kendaltowncouncil.gov.uk/heritage/history/coat-of-arms/
