Originally, this church building was an Anglican one called St Michael and All Angels Image, built in 1885 to replace an earlier one of 1761 although the earliest known church on the site (St Helen's chapel) was in 1419. It is listed grade 2 (list entry number 1375073). The church was formally closed for Anglican worship in 2011 and along with its adjacent hall is presently used by the Romanian Orthodox Church.
