The road, (it might be known as Moor Lane) is seen entering the Hamlet from the west; houses can be seen through the 'tunnel' of trees. To the left side of the road there's a blue and yellow road sign naming the village; it's in the style introduced in County Durham many years ago. In this example the usually bright colours are dimmed by a layer of algae, the growth of which has no doubt been promoted by the humid conditions caused by the tree cover.
