The bridleway reaches the field from the Etherley Dene district of Bishop Auckland. The valley of the River Wear lies ahead and to the right side of the image can be seen the Newton Cap Viaduct which once carried a railway then became disused before finally being strengthened and converted for road traffic. It now carries the A689 into the north of the town.
