This platform alongside the Maritime Line is for arrivals from Truro and departures to stations to Falmouth Docks. Penryn is a passing place on this mostly single-track branch line. Trains arriving at this platform are timed to bypass a Truro-bound train alongside platform 2 ahead. This is achieved via a passing loop, which is beyond the points http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4708582 ahead. The Sidings student accommodation is on the right.
