The pipe is a water main, running 27km from Peckforton in Cheshire to Coopers Green reservoir in North Staffordshire; the crossing was renewed as part of the £3.5M risk reduction project in 2014/5. [source: http://thenantwichnews.co.uk/2014/09/08/nantwich-lake-car-park-close-river-weaver-tunnel-project/ ] The bridge beyond Image is a grade 2 listed bridge (list entry 1138540) carrying a farm track over the Shropshire Union canal.
