The Lewiston Arms Hotel was once the social focal point for the local men (and a few women) of Drumnadrochit and the surrounding area. A place where you had to throw yourself out if you wanted to see your bed that night. The sadly missed proprietor, Nicky Quinn, once appeared on Bruce Forsyth's 'Play Your Cards Right' and was said to be the only one ever to extract a 'wee shot' from the Green Room BEFORE the show started. Not surprisingly Nicky wore a kilt that day, 'give us a twirl, give us a twirl' said Brucey, he obliged of course! Saved from demolition, the Lewiston has re-opened as the Loch Ness Inn, comprising of the Lewiston Restaurant and the Brewery Bar. Lewiston Road, stretching into the distance, once only had houses on the right hand side, apart from the Lewiston Arms. Now many have sprung up on the left, next to the River Coiltee, against the judgement of my grandfather, who remembered a great flood that engulfed the road back in 1933. Thanks Jimmy for the correction of your brother's surname.
