It was built for the Capital & Counties Bank who had traded at number one hundred and seventy three since 1879 and became Lloyds in 1920 who have been here ever since. Previously a bookseller occupied by Folthorps who also traded at Image Number one hundred and seventy one was a music library and number one hundred and sixty two a boot and shoe warehouse up to the 1860s when the two were acquired by Hanningtons, see Image, as a furniture repository.
