Built in the early 19th century as the western end of a terrace that includes Image and numbers one to seven New Road all of which had part of a colonnade attached to their exterior. The sections in North Street were removed for road widening between 1919-1929. Both shops have been in existence since the 1820s. Number one hundred and fifty-nine was a hairdresser for fifty years and after a number of businesses passed through a confectioner or newsagent for nearly a century. After a brief period as a cafe it has became a hairdresser once more in 2015. One hundred and sixty was a carver and gilderer for fifty years then a succession of retailers including those selling sewing machines, typewriters and a wax chandler.
