Opened in 1858 by the London Tilbury & Southend Railway on the line from London to Upminster, this station was rebuilt in 1905 when the District Line platforms were added. 'Heavy rail' trains ceased to call here in 1962 and it was transferred from British Rail to London Transport in 1969. View south west towards Upton Park and London. Like 55% of the London Underground network, this part is actually overground.
