Built c1873 in an Italianate style. Grade II listed. Now offices. Gateshead's Victorian civic buildings huddle together at the junctions of West and Swinburne Streets as if for protection from C20th encroachment. They lend a coherence to Gateshead which is otherwise thin on the ground.
