I see from the 1940s map this place was called Mussel House in those days. Shellness Road deviates across the marsh to it before returning to follow the sea wall. The road is tarmac up to the point from which the photo was taken then becomes a very rough track down to the coastguard cottages at Shellness, passing the naturist beach on the way.
