In proud and thankful memory of the following men from this parish who laid down their lives for king and country in the great war 1914-1919. There are sixteen names listed followed by the four lines: These died in war that we in peace might live They gave their best so we our best should give Not for themselves, for justice, freedom, right They fought and bid us forward to the fight. There are no names on this memorial for the second world war
