Buckden: knot garden and the former Bishop's Palace

The garden, begun in 1992 and designed by William Dawson, is dedicated to Queen Katherine of Aragon, who was imprisoned at Buckden Palace in 1533-4. It is a replica of a Tudor knot garden and is maintained by volunteers, two of whom are behind the large box tree in the centre. The Great Tower forms the backdrop. Beyond it is the modern Roman Catholic parish church of St Hugh of Lincoln.
