By R.J. Johnson, 1882-83, in "Norman Shaw's Queen Anne style". The ogee-roofed front to College Street brings to mind a Jacobean gatehouse (but nothing else does). The block round the corner has a slightly different character but appears to be of the same date. Grade II listed. This is all Northumbria University territory. Behind is St James Image
