The River Ayr Way passes the remains of Glenbuck Station, shown by the up-ended railway sleepers. The line was the Douglasdale branch of the Caledonian Railway Company, opened in 1873. The line carried coal and ironstone between pits and ironworks in Lanarkshire and Ayrshire. (Source: "The River Ayr Way", by Dale Love)
