Community Spirit at Portland Basin

"Community Spirit" is a 52ft long, 6ft 10ins wide narrowboat with a steel hull and weighs 13 tons. Normal passenger entry is via the front of the boat. For wheelchairs, a hydraulic lift and cut out panels in the bow facilitate easy boarding. It was built by the East Manchester Community Boat Project which was founded in 1994. http://www.emcbp.org.uk/ It is based at Portland Basin on the Ashton Canal.
