Great Northern electric unit 317345 calls at platform 2 of Hitchin station, forming the 1248 departure to Cambridge. This unit is one of the first batch of class 317s, built for the electrification of the London St Pancras to Bedford line in 1982-3 and featuring unusual aluminium ventilators. It is about to make use of the recently built flyover to access the Cambridge line.
