The northern end of the open meadow part of the common which extends further as a small area of woodland. Originally known as Henfield Common it consisted of a large rectangular strip that extended down as far as the current A272. Since the 19th century much of the southern part has been lost to the development of Scaynes Hill with just a small remaining segment to the north that is now an open access area.
