In 1864 Rachel Myers gave 5 acres on Molescroft Road, just outside the borough, as an additional burial ground for St Mary's parish. The ground was consecrated in 1869. It closed for burials in 1963, except in existing plots. The stone mortuary chapel, in 13th century style, with bellcote, by William Hawe, 1867-8. Now disused and boarded-up.
