"Powell's Pool, near Boldmere Gate, is the largest of the purpose-built pools found in Sutton Park. Constructed during the 1700s, the dammed water was used to power a spade mill that was demolished in 1936. Powell's Pool is an ideal spot for activities such as seasonal fishing and nature watching. Youth and community groups use the water for sailing and canoeing; it is only through these groups that access to the water is allowed." (Birmingham City Council information board at Boldmere Gate). Cars may park on Stonehouse Road, right, or further into the park.
