The white Portland stone Commonwealth War Graves Commission stone is inscribed "30843 Sergeant J. Seeley, Royal Defence Corps, 20th February 1919 aged 65". These war graves dated after the end of WWI are common in churchyards but what is unusual is the age of the man who died.
