Halsall Cutting

Halsall Cutting is where the building of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal began on the 5th of November 1770 when the Honourable Charles Mordaunt of Halshall Hall accompanied by surveyor Samuel Holmes cut the first spadeful of earth.
