The parish church of St Ismael has a fine tapering tower in South Pembs. style. Parts of the church go back to C13, and when a fire destroyed much of the interior of the church a few years ago, masonry fell away at the junction of the nave and chancel, to reveal a large octagonal sandstone column complete with base and capital embedded in the southwall, indicating that much of the medieval fabric of the church remained intact under the Victorian restoration.
