In 1994 Beverley Consolidated Charity purchased the Crown Brush Works, including a former 18th century coach house, Hengate. Conversion took place to provide six residential units. Crown Mews almshouses were opened 1 December 1998 by Lady Benson, chairman of the Almshouse Association. The old coach house, single-storey, was previously used as an office. Whiteing, sculptor Vincent Hill of Beverley.
