The only casualty from the village in WW2 is named on the marble plaque. The WW1 memorial can be seen here. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4583521 Flg Off. P.F. Boulter was the Flight Engineer on 514 Sqdn Lancaster LL685 GI-G2 that had departed Waterbeach at 1706hrs for Ops Braunschweig on 14/01/44. The aircraft was intercepted W of Bennebostel by a Night-Fighter and shot down. The aircraft crashed 800m West of Bennebostel, 5km S of Celle, Germany at 19:05 with the loss of all seven crew, all of whom are buried in Hanover War Cemetery.
