"Behind [12 Causeway] a narrow passage called Morth Gardens gives a glimpse of astonishing garden structures like small signal boxes, put up [about 1870]" wrote Ian Nairn and Nikolaus Pevsner in the Sussex volume of "The Buildings of England". The bargeboards and finial are indeed reminiscent of a signal box, but the British Listed Building citation describes it more accurately as a Picturesque Gothic gazebo: http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-298118-numbers-11-and-12-including-attached-wal#.VbCebyiwHZY .
