This unusual Norman doorway is on the southern side of Image], unfortunately at present it is impossible to get a clear photograph of it due to the Heras fencing which surrounds it. (see also Image]) I say it is unusual because of the lobed pendants beneath the multiple chevrons, a design I have never seen before. I would guess that this is very late Norman. The crispness of the carving is also surprising, suggesting it may possibly have been recut during the extensive renovations in the Victorian era.
