The hill is very narrow and leads to Mead and Darracott (where the pub is). The lower lane becomes very rough, and terminates in the car park by Welcombe Mouth beach. The rock formations there are worth viewing. The weather was deteriorating rapidly as a thunder storm spread over the area. In parts of south-east England temperatures were exceeding 36 deg C.
