The branch to Pembroke Dock was opened in 1864, mainly to serve the then Royal Naval dockyard. The branch into the dockyard was closed in 1969. The current service is mostly two hourly, operated by Arriva Wales. Despite the extensive building, there are virtually no passenger facilities at the station, but least the canopy does supply shelter from the frequent rain! Even the train crews have to sit in their train during extended layovers. Until recently there was a pub operating in the station building but that sadly now appears to be closed.
