Hard to believe now but, decades ago, the site of these up-market apartments was a semi-derelict car park serving Altrincham Station, before the creation of the Metrolink tram system. Cars were parked on waste land cleared from the old railway sidings which used to be here. In the 19th century, the Manchester/Altrincham line extended over this land to the then terminus station which was originally nearby, but a little further southwards, and called Altrincham & Bowdon.
