The deep canyons between the lace warehouses of Plumptre Street and Stoney Street were shadowed on a bright July evening but the stone of the crossing tower was gilded by the setting sun. The church is Grade I listed: http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-458577-church-of-st-mary-#.VZ2l0CiwHZY .
