This picture, a still from a video, captures the moment after a huge, large lightning bolt has struck at very close quarters. The reason it is not exactly horizontal is that I was in the process of ducking, as it scared the bejeezus out of me and was easily the loudest thunder strike I have ever heard. This evening's storm ran from about 11:25pm to 12:15 on the Saturday morning. Lightning was to be seen literally every few seconds for the duration of the storm and it was accompanied by torrential rain.
