At the junction with Westwood Road, Newbegin Bar House, No.31 Newbegin, built 1745-6 by William Wrightson for Beverley Corporation. Grade II Listed Building http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-167296-newbegin-bar-house-beverley-#.VZlqrpXbKUk Originally, three bars guarded the approach to the town, North Bar which remains, and Keldgate Bar and Newbegin Bar, both no longer extant. The early 15th century brick Newbegin Bar, demolished 1790, adjoined Newbegin Bar House. The garden wall, 18th century, is brick with stone coping.
