A working mens club opened on the site in 1902 which was greatly extended in 1923 under the direction of Lady Denman of Balcombe Place who commissioned Neville Lytton to provide a series of frescoes depicting scenes from World War One around the main hall. The frescoes still remain and the hall is run by a committee as a social venue for the village being available for the usual social functions as well as plays, comedy, films and meetings.
