An independent school for girls aged 3 to 18 years. The Abbey School was founded in 1887 and named after the previous school at The Abbey Gateway in Reading, where Jane Austen had been a pupil. It relocated to the present site in 1905 and has been much extended since then. The picture shows the entrance to the Junior School. The Senior School is in Kendrick Road and the Nursery School is in Vicarage Road. Image
