The Leaning Tower of Sutton on Sea: St. Clement's Church

How frustrating that in many a photo a straight church tower gives the impression it is leaning, yet the camera seems to want to straighten this one up, for none of the photos is this square really prepares you for the strange sight that greets you as you come round the bend in the road. Leaning towers are quite common on the former marshlands (here: seabed) of this area, since the tower, being the heaviest part, tends to sink, but is supported at one end by the rest of the building. This photo also gives an idea of the size of the building.
