Just ahead Morkery Lane passes under the bridge carrying the trackbed of the former railway line between Saxby in Leicestershire and the East Coast Main Line at Little Bytham. It was built by the Midland Railway and opened on 4th April 1898. The whole line closed on 2nd March 1959. There are a number of photographs of the line in its heyday here http://www.systonandpeterborough.co.uk/index.php?p=1_11_PAGE-9
