As the last runners reach Vernon Street about half a mile from the start (visible in the background at the bottom of the road) the front runners are already three minutes ahead of them. Market Street was closed for the Hyde 7 mile road race. This was the third race in the Tour of Tameside. It followed a 6 mile Fell run on Friday and a Half Marathon on Saturday. Some 333 runners completed the event. Starting outside Hyde Town Hall this 7 mile road race went straight up Market Street before turning left onto Mottram Old Road and past the Ken Ward Leisure Centre in Hattersley and left onto Mottram Road; then Grange Road North near Hyde United and past Hyde Leisure Pool and up Lumn Road before turning back onto Market Street and down to the finish outside Hyde Town Hall. The winner was Mohammad Aburezeq of Altrincham and District AC in a time of 35:32 minutes while the last to finish took 1 hour 44 minutes.
