The house at 40 Severn Terrace is near the Swan Theatre. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4057316 One reference source states that the house is Georgian, which may explain the two bricked-up windows. In force throughout the reigns of the four Kings George, the Window Tax was introduced in 1696 in the reign of King William III, repealed in 1851. Householders often permanently blocked a window or windows to reduce their tax liability.
