View towards the buffers on Platform 1: the train is about to leave for a memorable run, by the 'Lickey Limited' to Bristol Temple Meads, then to Birmingham New Street - up the Lickey Bank, and back via Bordesley Junction to Paddington. This 'Castle' class 4-6-0 No. 7017 'G.J. Churchward' (built 9/48, withdrawn 2/63) took us to Bristol and, after turning, up as far as Bournville, where Stanier Class 5 No. 44842 took over through New Street and round to Bordesley Junction, whence 'Castle' No. 7007 brought us back up to London).
