A plaque on the tower is "dedicated to the miners of this valley who contributed one old penny each every week out of their meagre wages to enable this tower & park to be established. They toiled below so that we could play above". There is also a Royal British Legion Gilfach Goch Branch Evanstown plaque in memory of those who fell in the two (World) Wars. Lest We Forget.
