The Playhouse started life in 1913 as the Oxford Cinema. It opened as a theatre in 1949. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erith_Playhouse It is still very much in business, unlike the pub next door, the former White Hart, which despite, or maybe because of, changing its name to Potion, seems to have shut.
