The population of Glossop increased from 17,500 in 1961 to over 33,000 in 2011. This change in population has significantly changed the character of the town, formerly it was for the most part working class people living in stone built terraced housing, now the town as attracted more affluent people with the new residents living in the type of newer accommodation shown in this photograph.
