As from 1st June 2015 this is no longer the mining museum. Part of the reason for this is in the name - 'Yorkshire Dales', which Earby clearly isn't part of. On our visit the contents were being packed up and will eventually be on display at the Dales Countryside Museum in Hawes, which is a much better location and should see much increased visitor numbers. In the picture is the water wheel and crushing rollers from an old lead smelting mill at Kettlewell. This too must be taken apart and removed to Wensleydale. Anyone interested in the history of lead mining in the dales should also visit the excellent little museum in Reeth.
