The Primitive Methodist Chapel, No.149 King Street, was built in 1861. The classically-inspired entrance was added in 1915. The chapel was extended to the south through the demolition of the house next door. Following a merger with the Wesleyan Methodists in Hallgate, the chapel closed in 1937. After the 1939-45 War, the building became a grocery warehouse, then Health Authority offices. Between 1983 and 2013 it housed Modus, an interior design business. Since August 2014, it has been home to Bourne, a women's clothing store.
