On the north side of this http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4514780 road bridge over the River Wriggle, near a railway access gate. The distance shown, 145 miles 70 chains, is also on the metal post. A chain is a measurement of distance based on Gunter's chain, a surveyor's chain of 100 links, 66ft long. 10 chains = 1 furlong and 80 chains = 1 mile, so the 70 chains shown here = 1,540 yards.
