The ford starts at the track on the right of the picture, crosses the river and emerges by the white house on the opposite bank where there is a path by the nearer wall. The track on this bank runs through the woodland (Burridge Woods, donated to Exmoor National Park "for public enjoyment") to Oldberry Lane. This track and the ford provided a way of by-passing the town with animals and farm carts.
