In 1813 the Wesleyan chapel in Deadman's Lane was replaced by a new one in Vicarage Lane at a cost of £700, which quickly rose to £1,060 when neighbouring cottages were acquired to extend the premises. The new chapel was replaced in 1877 by the present building in Tower Hill. The redundant chapel is, today, used for business purposes.
