Hessle Urban District Council was established in 1894; its headquarters was the Parish Hall, 1897, subsequently the Town Hall, as delineated above the entrance. Consequential of local government reorganisation, effective 1 April 1974, the building was transferred to Beverley Borough Council. It was later bought back by Hessle Town Council for £1.
